Building & Grounds Rentals

Pennsylvania Chautauqua offers a limited number of community spaces available for short-term rental when not in use for Chautauqua programs and events. These spaces are well suited for meetings, performances, celebrations, and community gatherings.

Hall of Philosophy (Community Building)

The historic Hall of Philosophy is used throughout the summer for Chautauqua programs and community events and is available for rental May through October when otherwise not in use.

Capacity & Features

  • Seating for approximately 100 people indoors, with additional seating on the porch

  • Tables and chairs available (11 eight-foot tables, 20 square tables, 120 folding chairs)

  • Small kitchen with refrigerator, stove, freezer for ice, and two restrooms

  • Porch with ramp access

Important Notes

  • The second floor is not included

  • The building is not heated or air-conditioned; four overhead fans are available

  • Availability is limited during summer weekdays; some weekend rentals may be possible

Rental Rates

  • Chautauqua Stockholder: $200 + refundable deposit

  • Mount Gretna Non-Profit (open event): $200 + refundable deposit

  • Mount Gretna Non-Profit (closed event): $500 + refundable deposit

  • Other rates available upon request

Shay’s Field

Shay’s Field is a large, open, sunny space located just off Route 117 and Timber Road, with parking capacity for 800+ vehicles. The field is adjacent to the Lebanon Valley Rail Trail and historic Mount Gretna and is well suited for large gatherings and outdoor events.
